a couple of pieces I am working on right now

March 7, 2008

Working on a couple of things right now. one is a wall hanging if my youngest son. I am working from a picture that a friend of his took.

The other is Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. I challenged myself to do that one and I am pretty pleased with how it is turning out. Using a lot of different materials in it, cotton, vinyl, suede, felt, winter fleece for his hair, fabric crayons, powder blush, a black sharpie, paint for the beads, beads, and card stock. Much more involved than I usually do!

More class photos

February 27, 2008

Four ladies just about finished their projects, they mainly just need a little fine tuning and quilting (except for Diane who finished hers the next day!) This was their last meeting as an actual class, although I will be available to answer questions if they need me Smile
I knew they would have some great pieces when done. They were all quite happy, and amazed at themselves because NONE of them thought they could do it! One other lady finished hers, but she couldn't make it to this class, but she will be sending me a picture.

Well, guess you are all waiting to see their art work right?

Aren't they wonderful?

I won something :-)

February 22, 2008

I entered a quilt in Quilter's Treasure 4th annual Fabric Challenge.

Winners were going to be notified mid February. I didn't hear anything so thought oh well, didn't win anything this time around.

Then I got their newsletter saying that winners had been announced at MAQF and were now on the website. Naturally I followed the link to see the winners and I am scrolling down the page thinking how nice they all were when...

THERE I WAS!!  Surprised    *Best Interpretation of Theme*!!

Woooohooo!! Laughing yes, I am excited. This is my first win!

So here it is...Oh the theme was Bright Idea... My quilt's name is *My Bright Idea*

Fishing

February 20, 2008

This is my latest piece, a wall hanging made from a photo that a friend sent me of her husband and granddaughter fishing. I used fusible applique on a batik to reproduce the photo.

Welcome!

February 19, 2008

Starting today I will be posting a blog to keep everyone updated on what I am working on. I may soon be offering short lessons and BOMs that I am designing for my groups here also.

Since I am currently unable to sew due to a knee cartilage injury I will begin by sharing photos of the ladies who are currently taking a class with me in Fabric Photos. They are learning to transform pictures into quilted wall hangings through the use of applique, paints, crayons, thread painting, etc. Judging by the photos they are using and the results so far, they will have some amazing quilts when they are doneLaughing

This has quickly become one of my most popular classes, so I will be teaching it every month. If you happen to live in the RI area and are interested in attending a session, (3 Saturdays a month is 1 session) drop me an email!
